How to Plan DDCET Mathematics Revision Around Topic Weightage

5 min read 2026-10-20StudyDDCET Team

Mathematics is roughly half of BE-02. Here is how the topics rank by weight, and a simple order to revise them in.

In BE-02, Mathematics and Soft Skills each carry about half of the paper. That gives Mathematics a large and predictable share of your final score — which means it rewards planning more than almost any other section.

The topics, ranked by weight

  • Heavy hitters: Determinant and Matrices, Differentiation and its Applications, and Integration
  • Mid-weight: Trigonometry, and Function and Limit
  • Lighter: Vectors, Coordinate Geometry, Logarithm and Statistics

A revision order that follows the weight

  1. Start with Determinant and Matrices, Differentiation, and Integration. Together these three make up a large slice of the paper, and they build on algebra you already know.
  2. Add Trigonometry and Function and Limit. Both reward formula fluency, and both get easier with repetition.
  3. Cover the lighter topics next. Vectors and Coordinate Geometry are visual and quick to revise; Logarithm and Statistics can each be handled in a single sitting.
  4. Keep a slow-burn slot. Do 10 to 15 mixed questions a day from earlier topics so nothing you learned first goes rusty.

How to practise so it sticks

  • Attempt a short quiz on a topic immediately after revising it, not a week later.
  • When you get a question wrong, read the whole solution — the mistake is usually in the first step, not the arithmetic.
  • Track which topics you keep losing marks in, and move those to the front of your next session.

Topic-wise practice on StudyDDCET is organised by exactly these units, so you can revise a topic and test it in the same sitting.
